    Job Summary
    A Business Process Analyst II leads the process of identifying problems, opportunities, and business needs. Once established, the analyst identifies and recommends viable solutions for meeting the needs through the elicitation, documentation, and management of stakeholder requirements. These individuals are experts in their fields and possess expansive and dynamic technical and personal skills required for effective solution implementation. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).

    Job Requirements
    The following are required:
    • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field. Equivalent experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
    • Three years of experience in information technology or a related field.
    • Two years of experience with business process analysis.
    • Two years of experience with projects.

    The following are preferred:
    • Experience with education and business applications.
    • Experience with multiple project and development methodologies, standards, and procedures.
    • Demonstrated experience with software development and implementation cycle.

    Essential Job Functions
    • Facilitates the optimization of business unit performance by enhancing the alignment between business processes and information technology, academic, and/or operational functions and requirements.
    • Mentors staff on business process development.
    • Documents existing processes, identifies processes for improvement, designs new processes, develops performance measures, and plans the transition to the new processes across all Anchorage School District departments.
    • Leads, coordinates, and develops workshops, open labs training, and support materials.
    • In collaboration with senior management and stakeholders, designs business process project scope, goals, and deliverables that support ASD goals.
    • Supports projects that are led by project managers I and II. This can include but is not limited to managing several tasks and assisting in the implementation plan, training plan, and communication plan.
    • Serves as the subject matter expert on the client product features, processes, communications, and any other general operational information.
    • Monitors performance of the established and new business processes within ASD.
    • Maintains clear and concise user documentation for the business process of applications as they relate to automated systems and updates them following each new release.
    • Assures compliance with ASD policy and project standards as well as state, federal, and local laws and regulations.
    • Advises project team on policy, procedures, priorities, and best practice.
    • Facilitates critical daily data integrity checks. Data problems are identified through data queries and reports, while corrections are accomplished through detailed database research and coordination with executive/ school administrative staff.
    • Develops best practices and tools for project maintenance.
    • Assists programmers with quality assurance testing of system configuration, set-up, and customizations.
    • Diagnoses problems and identifies new user requirements pertaining to assigned systems, proposes solutions, and plans preventive or corrective measures.
    • Coordinates activities pertaining to design and testing of new or enhanced systems and applications with users, enterprise applications staff, and the IT supervisor.
    • Develops the most optimal processes while maintaining stakeholders’ main interests.
    • Effectively communicates technical information to non-technical personnel.
    • Produces detailed business processes and technical end user documentation.
    • Demonstrates adeptness at problem solving, decision making, conflict management, creative and critical thinking, facilitation, and negotiation.
    • Possesses a high level of technical, logical, system thinking, research, and analytical skills.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others, demonstrating cultural and political awareness, and excellent customer service skills.
    • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility, and strong organizational skills.
    • Works effectively without close supervision, and is self-directed, self-motivated, and independent.

    Physical /Mental Demands
    The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.
