Job Summary

Battelle’s Cyber Trust and Assurance Analytics Department is seeking Software Application Developer to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team located in Columbus, Ohio. This position is contingent upon program award/funding.

Battelle cyber engineers work in small groups developing embedded security solutions spanning “Silicon to Systems”. Cyber engineers bring together backgrounds from physics, computer science, electrical engineering, and mathematics to solve security problems for elite industrial and government clients.

Responsibilities

  • Solve technical problems using computer science and systems engineering approaches grounded in mathematical and/or statistical methods
  • Collaborate with teams including scientists, engineers, statisticians, and developers to create, deploy, and maintain software solutions
  • Meet project objectives with minimum of supervision and within time and budget constraints
  • Interact daily with on-site team members and remote client teams
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with government and industrial clients
  • Engage in peer-learning/peer-training within a multidisciplinary team
  • Obtain and maintain a government clearance
  • Participate in minimal domestic travel

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Science, or Computer Engineering with at least 2 years of work experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with cloud computing and associated service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure
  • Competency in object-oriented programming
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Experience with web development technologies such as HTML, XML, JSON, CSS, or JavaScript/Typescript
  • Competency with development tools (e.g.: Visual Studio Code, NetBeans, Eclipse)
  • Ability to develop, test, document, and maintain code for deadline-driven projects
  • Ability to participate in requirements-gathering process, provide user documentation, and comment code clearly
  • Must be a US Person with the ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with user interface and user experience design and implementation
  • Experience with Python, SAS, S+, R, C, C#, C++
  • Experience with web server software (e.g., Apache, IIS, Tomcat)
  • Experience with additional JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis, MarkLogic, Cassandra, etc.)
  • Experience with microservices architecture, containerization, and container orchestration software (e.g., Docker, CRI-O, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Marathon)
  • Experience with automated code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube)
  • Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Hudson, Jenkins, xUnit, Team Foundation Server, etc.)
  • Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Katalon, Selenium, Cucumber, etc.)
  • Experience with Linux-based Operating Systems (e.g., Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS, etc.)
