Sopranos and Mezzos are to prepare the following selections: 1 aria in Italian, 1 aria or art song in French.

Tenors and Basses are to prepare the following selections: 1 aria in Italian, 1 aria or art song in French, 1 aria or art song in English

Each auditioner will be scheduled for an 8-minute slot (please edit your selections to fit within the 8 minutes). A pianist will be provided, or you may bring one with you. The deadline for signing up for an Audition is 5 PM Wednesday May 3, 2023.

ARIZONA OPERA CHORUS AUDITIONS 2023 COVID PROTOCOLS

FAILURE TO FOLLOW ALL THE COVID PROTOCOLS WILL RESULT IN YOUR BEING ASKED TO LEAVE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY AND YOUR AUDITION WILL BE CANCELLED

Prior to the Audition – Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination: Prior to scheduling your audition, you must provide proof of vaccination (plus booster, if eligible) via the Google Form.

If you are not fully vaccinated at the time of auditions, you will not be permitted to audition.

Arizona Opera will comply with all applicable state and federal laws and follow EEOC guidelines when considering individual accommodation requests.

Day of Audition - COVID-19 Self-Checklist: If you are feeling ill the morning of your audition appointment, please stay home and contact us to reschedule your audition.

Building Entry & Access

• Please arrive in your audition attire, there will be no place in the building for you to change clothes.
• Masks are required for everyone entering the building and must be worn at all times when in the building, except as outlined below in “The Audition”. The mask must be worn to cover your mouth and nose completely.
• Please warm-up prior to entering the building, there will be no spaces in the building for you to warm-up.
• An accompanist is provided for you. If you choose to bring your own accompanist, that person will be subject to all the protocols in this document. Please do not bring any other people with you to the audition.
• Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the building.
• To minimize the number of people in the building at the same time, please enter the building no more than 10 minutes prior to your audition appointment.
• Restrooms are available for your use.
• You may bring bottled water with you to drink and may remove your mask when drinking.
• We will maximize air exchange throughout the building, including setting the air handlers to run continuously rather than intermittently.

The Audition

• Please remain seated in your chair until you are called for your audition.
• You will be escorted into the rehearsal room, where you will give your music to the accompanist and explain any information the accompanist might need to know.
• The members of our Artistic Team who are hearing the auditions will be at tables at least 18 feet away from where you will sing. The Artistic Team will be wearing masks throughout. Please do not approach their tables.
• Only once you arrive on the spot may you remove your mask to sing.
• As soon as you are finished singing, you must put your mask back on. Only then may you collect your music from the accompanist and exit the building.

Scheduling

• Our audition day includes intermittent breaks for the Artistic Team to leave the audition space.
