About the Position...

The Assistant Controller is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Bank’s and Company’s operational accounting functions including maintaining a strong internal control environment, efficient accounting procedures, oversight of the general ledger certification process, monitoring the bank’s liquidity position, managing correspondent bank activities, managing all general ledger activities including accounts payable and fixed asset processes, assist with preparing/reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, and assisting with merger related integration and conversion related activities. This position will manage all direct reports, provide training, mentorship and support at all times. They will be responsible for obtaining at least a Satisfactory rating on all audits and exams. The Assistant Controller will ensure that all department duties, including their own, are completed accurately, timely, efficiently, and according to bank policies, procedures, and regulatory and accounting guidelines. This position will perform other duties and projects as assigned.

You are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a team environment. You also have the following:

Education/Certification: Accounting degree preferred, accounting course work required.

Required Knowledge: Knowledge of banking procedures and financial operations, as well as standard banking practices.

Experience Required: A minimum of 10 years experience in the Accounting area of a Financial Institution.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Detailed, organized and ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good math skills.
  • Professional appearance, dress and attitude.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software package.
