We are seeking a Associate Product Owner (Hybrid) to join our growing international team at YM Careers in St. Petersburg, Florida!

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Position Summary

We are looking for an Associate Product Owner to support the product strategy and roadmap for our career center platform serving the association, nonprofit, and niche job board market. You will be responsible for supporting the strategic vision and roadmap based on market research, testing, customer and prospect feedback. This position is responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams, communicating with management and executives, effectively managing customer escalation and
partnering closely with development to implement, test and define enhancements.

*This is a full-time hybrid role and requires 3 days in the St. Petersburg, FL office from Tuesday-Thursday. Monday and Friday are remote.*


A Day in the Life

  • Be involved in ideation, technical development, and launch of innovative products by serving as Associate Product Owner for the scrum team, creating user stories that align to the release theme and vision, and participate in meetings, including backlog and release planning
  • Support development and maintenance of the product vision, a multi-year strategic plan and product roadmap that aligns product strategy with business strategy
  • Develop expertise in customer needs by collaborating across business units, analyzing data, conducting interviews and product demos to develop insights and identify opportunities for improvement which drive impactful results
  • Understand a client's business processes and legacy systems to map requirements to Community Brands and YM Careers products.
  • Gain a basic understanding of the business or function for which the end product is designed and become familiar with industry competition.
  • Use appropriate software tools to collect and sort data, create graphs, PowerPoint decks, user guides, process flows, flow charts and design visualizations to explain findings.
  • Participate in creation of documentation including requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, documentation, and implementation steps to support product development of new features.
  • Respond to and prioritize business and project issues and escalate promptly and appropriately.
    Help guide external stakeholders in improving processes, products, services and software through data analysis.
  • Engage with project leaders and users to understand how data-driven changes to process, products, services, software and hardware can improve efficiencies and add value.
  • Use real-time user data and analytics programs to identify user trends, successful functions and potential user adoption problems with project applications.
  • Possess a general understanding of how data management systems, products and tools work.
  • Be comfortable with conducting regular virtual and in-person meetings and presentations for internal team members, stakeholders, and rarely for external customers.

We are looking for someone who brings

  • 0-1 years as Associate Product Owner or similar experience
  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science or other related Business field or equivalent experience
  • Experience with scrum teams and working in an agile environment preferred
  • Local to Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL area
  • A prior history of working well with internal and external stakeholders, peers, customers, and partners
  • Career Center / Job Board experience preferred
  • Association experience preferred
  • A technical foundation that enables collaboration with development teams on everything from APIs to web apps preferred
  • Experience working with web projects and implementation of SaaS web applications preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with design and usability to help drive product enhancements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization and follow-up skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills and ability to work both individually and as a member of a team
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with keen ability to deal with detailed, and sometimes ambiguous, information
  • Proficient in Office 365 - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Demonstrate ability to learn and understand basic office software applications
  • Experience working with Agile development processes and team collaboration tools (Jira preferred, but others accepted)
