Inspired Data Solutions (IDS) Overview: Founded in 2004 and based in Annapolis, MD, IDS is an independent information technology consultancy with a core competency in transportation. Duties/Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders (including airport tenants, airlines, and other industry partners) to define functional and non-functional requirements for a specific aeronautical system so as to document the business need for a project. Translate business requirements into functional specifications for technical teams.
- Develop and quantify the monetary and non-monetary benefits of a specific project in accordance with capital and operating financial policies.
- Research and benchmark other airport and aviation implementations of specific systems, analyzing complex data sets to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Keep abreast of aviation industry developments, especially technology advances, that might suggest beneficial projects.
- Work with Project Managers to define a project’s business case which describes the desired benefits in accordance with Project Management Book of Knowledge. This includes but is not limited to:
- Determining the external stakeholder demand and revenue forecast for proposed IT systems and services including how it might impact use and lease agreements.
- Defining the internal organizational need for a project by examining cost reduction of direct expenses and labor achieved by the project.
- Documenting any safety or environmental benefits and/or regulatory compliance that the project will enable.
- Defining any social benefits of a project.
- Verify through observation and measurement, and report if specific benefits of a project have been achieved.
- Write test plans to ensure that contractors fully meet the original requirements of a system.
- Evaluate the performance of a system against original performance requirements and analyze why system performance has degraded.
- Assist with the update of an Airport Technology Master Plan.
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven (7) years of experience in the IT field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience as an IT business analyst, requirements specialist, or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience in conducting JAD (Joint Application Design/Development) sessions with business owners, technical experts, and stakeholders to gather requirements.
- Three (3) years of hands-on experience in creating, modifying, and maintaining requirements and design documents for airport IT systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with preparing presentations, reports, tables, graphs, and observations for presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with data and information, including data modeling, data analysis, and data visualization.
- Experience working collaboratively with business users, managers, and non-technical staff.
- A strong understanding of business processes, operations, and practices in the airport industry to identify areas for improvement and optimize business performance through system changes.
- Proven strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Experience with managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines and changing business needs.
- Knowledge of various software tools and technologies used in the industry, including data analysis, project management, and database management software.
- Proficient in a wide range of computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years of experience providing business analyst services for complex and dynamic, multi-agency technology projects in the airport industry.
- Five (5) years of hands-on experience serving as a liaison between business and IT in gathering critical business requirements for complex system modifications, enhancements, and implementations.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
- Experience with developing requirements for Mobile applications and Responsive design changes.
- Experience with writing requirements for Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Chatbots, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), or any cutting-edge technological solutions.
- Experience with diverse traditional and cutting-edge project management techniques, tools, and stages of the project lifecycle.
- Experience with systems development lifecycle (SDLC) techniques and Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience developing and maintaining project schedules, plans, and specifications, estimating time and resources, monitoring milestone achievements, tracking various project lifecycle stages, providing timely issue reports that impact project progression, and coordinating action items.
