DEPARTMENT: Goodwill Staffing Services
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth for Goodwill Staffing Services by identifying and generating new business through outside sales activities such as prospecting, telemarketing, territory planning and building, cold calls, and relationship building. The incumbent is accountable for focusing on and generating business through existing and new contracts with companies of all sizes and industries. The Business Development Manager will deal most frequently with middle to senior management within the clients organization.
- Develop and implement an effective sales plan to meet or exceed established new business objectives for medium to large size accounts.
- Utilize a consultative sales approach and strategic marketing plan to attract new business accounts.
- Contact potential clients through marketing calls and arrange sales meetings.
- Nurture relationships with current clients to identify new business opportunities.
- Utilize a growth focused strategy to evaluate client needs and formulate effective staffing solutions that maximize sales activity and customer satisfaction within assigned territory.
- Collaborate with appropriate internal resources to develop comprehensive sales presentation materials tailored to the prospective account.
- Make formal sales presentations and follow-up calls to prospective new business accounts.
- Collaborate with the marketing department on a consistent basis to develop marketing materials that create positive community awareness of the organization, its mission and impact.
- Research and analyze market trends in the staffing services industry in order to create new opportunities that expand business.
- Interface with appropriate field management to establish pricing for competitive quotes and bids.
- Manage the proposal response process including creating the RFP draft document for review by the VP of Goodwill Staffing Services.
- Collaborate with internal GSS team members to ensure that potential staffing contracts are consistent with service resources and candidate pool.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all services offered by GSS and awareness of the competition.
- Provide input and assist the VP of Goodwill Staffing Services with revenue generation and business development performance reports.
- Organize weekly sales efforts utilizing the current system, including all contacts, activities, appointments, and opportunities.
- Attend conferences, networking and industry events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors Degree and at least five (5) years of customer service, fundraising, development or sales experience, preferably business-to- business (B2B). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Prior management/supervisory experience, preferably in staffing or recruitment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic sales techniques that result in attaining new business partnerships.
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse constituent
population.
- Ability to analyze data and sales statistics and translate information into sound action plans.
- Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team-environment.
- Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with MS Office Suite or comparable software programs.
- Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow-through on tasks.
- Understanding of financial and budgetary principles.
