POSITION SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Sr. Manager Manufacturing Engineering, the Business Development Manager is responsible for the successful implementation of manufacturing strategic projects and customer development to expand and diversify Piper’s manufacturing product capabilities and lines of business. This individual will manage the activities from initial planning to project implementation and coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure that appropriate priorities, resources, timeframes and commitments are supported throughout project lifecycles. Formulate requirements, project strategies, manpower requirements, and success criteria for assigned projects.

    • Structural Metal Bonding
    • Fiberglass
    • Prepreg fiberglass
    • Part Sub Assembly
    • Major Structural Assembly

Minimum Education:

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years’ experience directly related to the job requirements within the manufacturing industry
Formal training in Lean manufacturing processes is preferred.
Required Certification/Registration:
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Work requires extensive periods of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Travel and overtime are required when necessary
Working Conditions:
  • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors.Frequently exposed to an office environment; and occasionally exposed to manufacturing environment and elements such as odors, noise, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity,or some element present which makes conditions less desirable than usually found in an office. Frequent contact with various staff, vendors, sales representatives, employees and community members.

  • Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out and below.

  • Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.



SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:


This position will be responsible for marketing the capabilities of Piper, identifying opportunities to bring contract work in house and fully utilize the capacity that is available. This will also include the managing and spearheading of prototype production and special projects as directed.

  • Identifying potential product opportunities developing the market
  • Monitor and evaluate industry trends and customer drivers, and meet regularly with management and key stakeholders to discuss strategy ·
  • Research the latest in the relevant industry and create new opportunities to expand business
  • Contact potential clients to establish a business relationship
  • Will be required to establish and build relationships with clients
  • Formalize scope of work and develop financial estimates
  • Manage initial prototype development of incoming work and other special projects
  • Conduct project and technical reviews
  • Generate status reports, tracking progress and outstanding requirements
  • Perform other related duties as required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The employee must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills, be able to effectively present information, respond to questions from managers and the general public, be able to write reports, as well as business correspondence.
