We are seeking a talented a
M
athematical Game Designer to work as part of the 1/ST Technology - PariMAX game development team creating a line of casino style gaming products. The role requires interfacing with a cross functional team of Developers and Artists in designing and developing mathematical models that support a game’s payout structures and game mechanics. The Mathematical Game Designer role combines an affinity for mathematics with programming and design thinking in order to build the most entertaining game experiences possible for our players. This position will construct all mathematical components of our gaming products with a collaborative development team, helping to shape the future of our gaming initiatives with their innovation.
BASE WORK LOCATION: Position can be based at the Hunt Valley, MD location. Position classification is approved as: Hybrid or Remote. (05/02/23)
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Computer Science
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a casino gaming mathematical role
- Expert in Excel
- Skilled in Combinatorics, Statistics, and Probability Theory
- Ability to multi-task on parallel projects
- Ability to create robust documented programs using C++/C#
- Demonstrates the ability to use data analysis to come to design conclusions
- Must work well in a cross-disciplined development team in a collaborative environment
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Passionate about gaming of all kinds and interested in casino gaming and wagering experiences
- Naturally data-driven and analytical with an eye for identifying player’s wants and needs
- Self-motivated and results driven
- Ability to multitask and work independently toward business goals
Preferred Experience and/or Education:
- Experience working in an Agile Software Development Environment
- Familiarity with pari-mutuel wagering paradigms
OTHER INFORMATION:
- Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive base salary and benefits.

Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the design and calculation of mathematically driven casino style gaming product
- Demonstrates leadership in designing mathematical structures of the product line
- Constructs simulation software for modelling complex mathematical wagering systems
- Performs duties with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in creating mathematical models, game logic, design documentation, and customer-facing specifications
- Performs extensive play testing of game software with special attention paid to mathematical experiences, game pace and in-game messaging around mechanical behavior
- Analyzes field performance data in order to determine patterns for successful mathematical models and mechanics
- Observes industry trends to ensure product innovation remains ahead of the competition
- Attends targeted industry conferences
- Performs other duties as assigned
