POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead CAD Designer/CNC Programmer will lead the new projects for designing and building new fixtures for use in the CNC machining operation and programs the CNC machines to run the new products. They work closely with the team members to identify what is needed for each new project and plan for the necessary tooling.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develop and lead project flow for all new fixture designs through to CNC programming
• Design fixtures using Solidworks Professional and Fusion 360 for new products based on part prints and models
• Work with the Project Engineer, CAD Designer/CNC Programmer and the Business Manager to review the fixture and make necessary corrections
• Create the fixture either with a 3-D printer or machining in-house or provide information to external machine shop for creation
• Produce manufacturing documents for building and reviewing the fixture
• Assemble fixtures once they are machined
• Write the CNC program to machine the part that the fixture was designed for
• Perform first set-up of the CNC machine to run the new product
• Train and mentor team members when appropriate and necessary
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have Design or Engineering Degree or equivalent experience with CAD/CAM and design
• Must have five years of CAD/CAM experience in a production CNC environment
• Experience with leading projects
• Ability to train and mentor team members
• Must have excellent advance mathematical skills
• Ability to read prints and follow directions
• Must have experience with a 3-D printing device
• Ability to quickly adapt/adjust focus, and problem solve within evolving work demands
• Uphold organizational culture with a focus on teamwork and commitment to service amidst a diverse colleague and customer base
• Must be dependable
• Must be able to obtain a fork truck license
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by RSI
