The Davenport Group is a software solutions and professional services company specializing in the design and implementation of software solutions for public sector clients. As the Davenport Group continues to grow and respond to the on-going requirements of our clients, we seek to add talent to our base of outstanding professionals.

We are currently looking for a Project Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have local government experience in permitting and planning, as well as strong work plan development and progress oversight skills.

This position will work closely with a wide variety of local government clients throughout the US and Canada. The position requires a fundamental understanding of planning and permitting processes and will work with local governments to analyze, configure and optimize processes while implementing software management systems. The candidate will be expected to prepare and present progress updates to appropriate management on a regular basis, ensuring the projected implementation schedules and associated tasks are being achieved. This position involves some travel.

Objectives:

  • Lead projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, and project implementation plans, including risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within scope.
  • Schedule and defined budgets, in collaboration with project staff from various functional departments.
  • Analyze progress and, when necessary, adapt scope, timelines, and costs to ensure that project team adheres to project requirements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain processes to manage scope over the project lifecycle, setting project quality and performance standards, and assessing and managing risk within, and across, multiple projects.
  • Structure and manage integrated, multi-track project performance metrics.
  • Monitor and assign resources appropriately to streamline project efficiency and maximize deliverable outputs.
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels as needed—escalating issues as necessary based on project work plans.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Project management experience
  • Local government experience
  • Proven success working with all levels of management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification - such as PMP or PRINCE2
  • Local government experience

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: Between $55K and $95K per year, depending on qualifications.
