Major Responsibilities:
Learns the following Installation duties
  • L2 and L3 switches and network routers
  • Communications of tank batteries, well pads, SWDs, offset frac, POCs and reclosers
  • Cambium 450, 450I radios
  • 5.8 and 2.4 wireless ethernet APs and SMs
  • MDS serial radios and antennas
  • Network management software
Learns the following Troubleshooting duties
  • Intermittent communications failures
  • Performing maintenance to find potential points of failure and improve signal quality issues
  • Work on communication failures found in network management software’s
  • Troubleshoot work orders turned in with communication issues
  • Troubleshoot emergency calls that come in from automation techs, production operators, production foreman, ROH and SCADA
  • Fix any issues with all field communications equipment
  • Troubleshoot IP conflicts, IP loops on all PNR networks
  • Troubleshoot serial communications network and end devices requiring RTU addresses for communications
  • Respond to all communication failure callouts across all PNR field
  • Help other automation techs with I&E issues and tracking down failures with automation equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Knowledgeable of basic electrical systems. Technical certification preferred.
  • CPI (Certified Public Installer) certified, networking or wireless communications experience preferred
  • 3.5 years of oil and gas experience, 1.5 year communication/ automation experience, or 1 year as a Production Operator or equivalent experience/certification in Automation systems preferred.
  • A current valid vehicle operator’s license with an insurable driving record is required.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Duties require close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Willing and able to work in hazardous environments.
  • Must be open to the employment of new procedures, technologies and equipment that have the capability of optimizing Pioneer’s field operations and must have the capability of collecting and documenting any data necessary to evaluate new procedures, technologies and equipment as may be employed and tested from time to time. Must be adaptable to change, motivated and be a self-starter.
  • Able to be on call nights and/or holidays. May include unscheduled overtime
