Bluestem Health dental clinic is a paperless office with Electronic dental records and Dexis digital radiography. We do all phases of dentistry. We serve diverse patient population ranging from preschoolers to elderly. We are looking for a caring and compassionate dental hygienist to join our close-knit team dedicated to quality care.

The Dental Hygienist provides oral health care in an outpatient clinical setting with two (2) Dentists. This position performs dental prophylactic services and provides educational information for prevention and control of dental disease. This position is responsible for cleaning and care of teeth as well as teaching proper care of teeth and gums.

The Dental Hygienist must possess the ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to build and enhance teamwork in the clinic
and in the organization. This position requires individual flexibility, initiative and the ability to handle several complex tasks at once.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse
  • Taking x-rays
  • Remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth
  • Apply preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides)
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
  • Counsel patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health
  • Document healthcare information

Qualifications


Licensed to practice as a dental hygienist in the state of NE, basic life support certification, and 1 year of experience preferred (but not required).
