Design Assistant Position- Part Time/Contract Work

Wouldn’t it be Lovely is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a part time Design Assistant, during the busiest months of the year, from April through September.

Wouldn’t it be Lovely is an award winning custom wedding stationery design studio. We work with couples all over the world to bring their wedding stationery and other design items to life. We specialize in Wedding Invitations, Save the Dates & Wedding Day Paper Goods which feature watercolor art, custom illustrations, maps and hand done calligraphy. We are looking for a design assistant to help with our workload during peak wedding season. Wouldn’t it be Lovely is a small, happy and hard working design studio, so responsibilities and needs are always shifting to cover the current workload. So we are a looking for a candidate who is willing to fill in and help wherever necessary. It is a fun and creative environment with a passion for design and the clients we work with.

Requirements:

  • Strong Illustrator & Photoshop skills
  • Bachelors (or working towards a degree in) in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Illustration or Painting
  • Strong grasp of typography
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to work as part of a team & take direction well- good communication skills are key
  • Able to commute to the studio in Medway, Massachusetts
  • Access to personal computer with illustrator & photoshop for potential remote work, a computer will be provided for work in the Studio.
  • Flexible and able to multitask and work on multiple projects- able to jump in and help at any stage in a project.

Bonus Skills:

  • Adept at Calligraphy
  • Adept at Watercolor Painting
  • Knowledge of Squarespace & Website design

Responsibilities Include:

  • Layout designs and text in Illustrator
  • Make design edits in Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Preparing designs for production & manufacturing
  • Creating auxiliary designs based off of existing design work
  • Assist with product photoshoots, creating flat lays and creating compelling images for marketing needs
  • Editing images in Photoshop
  • Assembly of Invitations & Save the Dates
  • Office work & errands as needed

Hours Per Week:

  • Minimum of 10 hour per a week, as many as 30 hours of work will be available at times. Hours will fluctuate but will have notice of general hours.
  • Must be in the studio for at least 2 days a week making up at least 10 hours of “in-studio time” Monday- Friday 9am—5pm. After initial training period, more remote work is a possibility.
  • We are very flexible with what days and hours work best for you to be in the studio- but you must be consistant and plan ahead what days and hours you will be in each week so we can plan accordingly. That being said, applicant must be able to complete work requests within 24 hours Monday-Friday, either in the studio or remotely.
  • Pay is as an hourly consultant. The rate is dependent on work history, portfolio, experience, and skill set.

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
