Sylvia Woods, the "Queen of Soul Food," was the founder and owner of the world famous Sylvia's Restaurant, located in the historical village of Harlem, since 1962. In 1944, Sylvia and her Husband Herbert, moved to Harlem NY, where she became a waitress at Johnson's luncheonette. After several years of dedicated service, Mr. Johnson recognized Sylvia's entrepreneurial spirit and sold her the luncheonette.The once small luncheonette which consisted of 15 stools and six booths, has now flourished into a family-owned enterprise which consists of: Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem, Sylvia's Also, a full-service catering hall, Special Events Division, a nationwide line of Sylvia's Food Products, two deliciously amazing cookbooks, and ATOC, Inc., a real estate holding company.

The world famous Sylvia's Restaurant is seeking enthusiastic Servers to join our team. Under the direction of our Managers and The Sylvia's Way Standards, the Server is responsible for serving our guests by providing great customer service, taking orders, delivering food, and answering any questions regarding the menu. All servers will work closely with other wait staff and the kitchen to ensure the restaurant is operated efficiently.

Qualified candidates must:

• Enthusiastically greet and welcome guests
• Have a great work ethic and commitment to uncompromising quality
• Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment
• Have knowledge of a POS system, Aloha is a plus.
• Have basic to intermediate English communication skills
• Maintain the restaurant with regards to cleanliness, neatness and customer accessibility.
• Work as a team member to support other restaurant employees in their duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned by General Manager or Assistant Manager
• Be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and the ability to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs as needed
