We are Chalet, a nature-forward lifestyle brand based in Wilmette. Our promise is to bring nature’s beauty to people’s home, both inside and outside. With the goal of supporting a Chalet brand ecosystem and elevating the brand presentation with one voice and in a cohesive manner, we are looking for a hands-on graphic designer to join our Marketing Team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, you would be responsible for the design and production of a full spectrum of marketing assets, from digital, in-store signage, to collateral pieces all in a cohesive manner. Our key business units to market are an award-winning, high-end residential landscape service, our nature-curated retail stores, and our farm/plant production operation. Some brand-focused, some product/service-specific, you’ll design and produce compelling creative assets that reflect the Chalet brand essence. This position requires both keen design aesthetics and hands-on execution/production of each assets leveraging your great range of media disciplines, on both digital and traditional.

Your responsibilities will include:

Website:

  • Manage ongoing updates on our websites (home page and splash pages) by developing and uploading banners (2-3x/week).
  • Create banner designs to support all promotions and special events (1 theme x up to 3 different banner sizes).
  • Develop a key visual representing each of our classes and events (45+/year).
  • Secure and produce image assets, promotions, blogs, customer reviews, learning center, events, etc.

Marketing Assets:

  • Design and produce eblasts on a weekly basis (up to 3 per week).
  • Design a series of automated email campaigns created based on customer behavior.
  • Create synergy with website and design for up to 5 different sizes per social or other digital campaign for acquisition and retention purposes.
  • Create various collateral such as retail posters (1-2/week in 2 different sizes), event coupons, and handouts.
  • Produce postcards, catalogs, hyper-local mailings supporting Landscape up to 5 mailings per year.
  • Create in-store signage.
  • Graphic treatments for new services & offerings (e.g., Chalet Signature, Sprouts, etc.).
  • Spearhead seasonal brand themes throughout the year.
  • Being willing to roll up your sleeves and take photos as part of creating design assets/elements.
Requirements:

Our ideal candidate will have the following skillsets and abilities:

  • Local and able to commute to our Wilmette office at least 3 days/week.
  • Your own portfolio website featuring a wide range of your creative and innovate design work. If your main focus is illustration or photography, this job is not for you.
  • A degree in graphic design, graphic arts, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of web/digital design/graphic design required. Advertising agency or Design Studio experience preferred.
  • Excellent typographic skills and digital fluency.
  • Advanced proficiencies in Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus. Experience designing websites using Shopify or other major webhosting platforms is also a plus.
  • A strong, independent, and conceptual thinker who can take a project from concept through development and design to production and then apply across all media channels and tactics.
  • Team player, collaboratively working on a team with key business stakeholders across the company, outside the marketing department.
  • A problem solver who has the ability to juggle multiple projects focusing on the details while keeping the big picture in mind.
