PRMO Established in 2001, Patient Revenue Management Organization (PRMO) is a fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization supporting all of Duke Health, including Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, the Private Diagnostic Clinic, and Duke Primary Care. General Description of the Job Class

Performs specialized healthinformation activities necessary to organize, maintain, and use electronicpatient health records. Positions at this level have high customer service,strong analytic and problem-so lving skills, require interpretation andexplanation of policy and intern al requirements related to health recorddocumentation and completion, Me dical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations andorganization-wide functionsand policies and procedures. Specific jobresponsibilities are based on the service unit within Health InformationManagement assigned and includ e: Performs HIPAA compliant screening of incomingrequests for protected health information of our patients, distribution ofmedical records, defi ciency management to assure compliance with federal andstate regulatory and accrediting body requirements for health record contentand timely co mpletion and document management to include the capture of healthrecords inan electronic format. Excellent computer skills are required tocompl ete basic to intermediate tasks within Maestro Care, Solarity, HylandOnB ase and other related applications.


Duties and Responsibi lities of this Level


Performs preliminary screening of authorization (pursuant t oState and Federal Privacy Laws), enters requests for information into M aestroCare Release of Information Module, and returns to requestor with explanationif invalid.

Manage tasks associated with the HIM ROI C ustomer Serviceoffice to include greeting visitors, providing guidance f or requesting medicalrecords, completing the authorization for disclosur e, verifyingpatient/personal representative authority/identify and facil itates same daycustomer service by coordination with ROI team.

Se rves as front line support through receipt of telephonecalls from third party requestors and patients asking for the status of medicalrecord req uests. Assists requestors inunderstanding the requirements for submissi on of a HIPAA compliantauthorization, provides explanation for canceled requests and responds togeneral inquiries about obtaining medical record s, navigation of MyChart andbasic Care Everywhere inquiries. Requires a high level of communication and customer service skills toappropriately assess and respond to customers while de-escalating issues whennecessary .

Responsible for verifying accuracy of patient selection oneach page/image of records prepared for disclosure and packages requestedreco rds for delivery through paper print, CD or electronic submission.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

High school or GED diploma required


Experience

2 years of experience in Health Information Management, Document Management, or Healthcare Related Field required Associates / Bachelors Degree in Healthcare, Business, IT, or Related Field can substitute for 2 years' experience Associates Degree in HIT preferred
