Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Campus Landscape Manager, the incumbent performs one or more of the following types of work: Assisting Landscape Maintenance Technicians in the fields of landscaping and landscape maintenance; and/or assisting arborist in tree maintenance. Hours of work are dependent on the season.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Due to the duties of this position, candidates are required to be at least 18 years of age.

• Must have a valid motor vehicle operators license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles.

• 
  Experience with safely operating various types of landscape maintenance equipment including mowers (both commercial riding mowers and self-propelled push mowers), weed trimmers, small tractors, and various hand and power tools.

• 
  Experience working independently without close supervision.

• 
  Experience receiving orders, from supervisors and to execute in a safe, efficient and timely manner.

• 
  Experience paying attention to details; the ability to tell when something is out of place and take appropriate steps to rectify the problem.

• 
  Experience working safely and cooperatively with other team members to accomplish desired results.

• 
  Experience interacting with students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors in a positive manner.

• 
  Experience maintaining proper dress codes and adhere to safety procedures presented by your supervisor.

• 
  Experience and willingness to work in areas where landscape pesticides have been used and in irrigated areas where reclaimed water is utilized.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience: in the fields of horticulture, landscape architecture, landscape maintenance or landscape construction.

• Education or training: in the fields of horticulture, irrigation, arboriculture, landscape architecture, landscape maintenance or landscape construction.

• 
  Experience: safely operating and performing routine maintenance on large and small mowers, weed trimmers and other landscape maintenance equipment.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

• Lifting, carrying and/or otherwise moving items weighing approximately 50 pounds.

• Position can be physically demanding, standing and walking continuously throughout the shift, climbing and standing on ladders.

• 
  Working outdoors in inclement weather (having proper attire for hot, windy, rainy, or cold conditions.
