Position Summary
This position is responsible for various kitchen duties including food and meal preparation and cleaning tasks as assigned for culinary experiences such as but not limited to, banquets, catering, and special event functions.
Responsibilities
  • Assist chefs in the kitchen with preparation of food assigned by the Executive Chef. Executive Sous Chef or Sous Chef for all events including cleaning, cutting, and cooking all food items as needed, setting up for service, and executing service.
  • Interaction with guests; which includes but is not limited to greeting guests before and/or after food service, speaking to the culinary methods for food preparations, and answering guest questions regarding culinary options and service.
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly.
  • Responsible for culinary station’s workflow and, in partnership with Hospitality Servers/Hosts, ensure each dish is delivered to customers in a timely manner.
  • Provide dishwashing and kitchen cleaning duties as assigned by the Executive Chef. Executive Sous Chef or Sous Chef
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation area.
  • Understand and comply with quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures of CBI.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize the kitchen and all kitchen and dining room food service equipment in a timely manner, using the professional dishwashing equipment provided and return all items to their proper storage areas.
  • Organize and consolidate walk-in or refrigerators on a need to basis.
  • Always maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a professional kitchen
  • Must have basic culinary skills.
  • Ability to work weekends & evenings.
  • Must know and understand meal preparation with regard to timing and logistics.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills, ability to follow instructions.
  • Must make decisions with good judgment and maturity.
  • Effective written and verbal English skills
  • Must have knowledge of state and federal laws concerning safety, sanitation, and cross-contamination and must abide by these laws.
  • Must be creative and motivated about food and wine pairings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Food Handlers or SERV Safe Certificate
  • Experience in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Degree from an established Culinary Academy preferred.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to regularly grasp, lift and/or carry, push, pull, or otherwise, move objects up to 55 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and bending are required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Work Environment:
  • Working conditions at an event may require the employee to be outside for extended periods of time and/or occasionally in a kitchen with slippery floors.
  • Irregular shifts, nights, weekends, and long hours may be required, particularly when working an event.
  • Exposure to outdoor environment factors (e.g., heat, rain, wind, sun).

The pay rate for this role is $22.00 - $24.00. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees. Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
