Job Description:
PURPOSE OF JOB:
-
To provide pharmaceutical care to patients of Doylestown Hospital. These
services are in support of the safe, rational and cost-effective use of
drugs and related products and services in the institution.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-
1. Reads and interprets written prescriber orders, and takes verbal
modifications of such orders when necessary.
2. Possesses working knowledge of Hospital and Pharmacy computer systems.
Utilizes systems to process orders and provide safe pharmaceutical care.
3. Effectively communicates orally and in writing with patients, fellow health
care team members and other customers.
4. Evaluates and monitors medication use to promote safe, rational and cost
effective therapy.
5. Dispenses medication and directly supervises and checks medication
preparation by technician staff.
6. Assists in maintaining drug supply to assure that the needs of our patients
are met.
7. Exhibits reliability through actions and attitude.
8. Recognizes the existence of cultural differences and utilizes appropriate
resources available throughout the Hospital to respond to the needs of the
pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient, family member
and/or visitor. Applies SERVE values in every day work. Complies with
corporate compliance program.
Job Qualifications:
A. Education: Graduate from accredited college of pharmacy with
BS in Pharmacy or Pharm.D degree.
Current Pennsylvania licensure.
B. Experience: Hospital experience strongly preferred. Recent
graduates will be considered.
C. Other Skills: Good communication and presentation skills are
essential.
Must be self-confident in supporting rational drug
therapy alternatives to physicians when necessary
or appropriate.

Hours:* 2nd shift, 11am-730 pm or 2pm-1030pm, M-F (includes weekend overtime). Compensation:* $24-$28/hr, depending on experience.
