Core Platform Services builds, manages and supports the foundation platform services for the Azure Cloud. We are passionate about what we do and improving the experience for our partners. We build automation around OS (Operating Systems) deployment, patching, data distribution, and virtualization technologies. We are looking for a Principal Service Engineer Manager to help drive the design and implementation of our networks across the globe.

Responsibilities

  • You will provide technical leadership for the implementation of new and upgraded network systems in datacenters, labs, and sovereign cloud instances.
  • You will handle the project from design to implementation.
  • You will collaborate with internal business units and stakeholders and understand the requirements to deliver efficiently.
  • You will automate repetitive tasks to reduce implementation time and avoid failure due to human error.
  • You will participate in on-call rotation for network incident support, quickly mitigate impact and restore service availability through a software enabled toolset.
  • You will evangelize best network engineering practices and processes within and across teams.
  • Working with hardware teams, you will drive our efforts to modernize and design existing and future pre rack deployment SKU’s (Stock Keeping Units).
  • You will represent Core Platform Services group to other engineering groups and partner in delivering solutions to ensure SLA’s (Service-Level Agreements) of our services are achieved through network resilience.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering
    • OR equivalent experience.
Security Clearance Requirements:

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements
  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 12+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in network protocols, network devices including network interface cards, switches and routers.
  • Experience working with mission critical systems, managing network infrastructure that supports the Azure Cloud Infrastructure.
  • 5+ years technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.
  • 5+ years people management experience.
  • Management Information Systems (MIS), or other industry or product specific Engineering Certifications.
Service Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
