Summary/Objective: This position is responsible to price, stock, and rotate items within the produce department, ensure that all produce available to customers is fresh, and provide a high level of customer service.

Essential Functions: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Greeting customers and assisting them with produce questions, recommendations and reaching for items
• Follow approved procedures for receiving, dating, preparing, trimming, storing, price marking, and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation and protection
  • Make sure products are rotated, using first in first out (FIFO) method
• Keep display cases and other merchandising areas well stocked and signed, display merchandise in an attractive, appealing, neat, and colorful manner
• Inspects products visually and remove poor quality, expired produce, or produce that shows signs of spoilage
  • Handles damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods
• Perform preparation of food products for displays including cut fruit and vegetables
• Assist Produce lead in preparing platters and other special customer requests
• Assist in the unloading of products and transport stock to coolers and storage areas
  • Ensures all received produce meets or exceeds company produce standards
• Cleans and sanitizes all produce equipment, display fixtures and areas including the coolers and display cases
• Set up, maintain, and deconstruct product displays
• Follow health regulations and safety standards
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned
