MCD Global Health is a nonprofit global health organization recognized in the United States and around the world as a leader, innovator, and trusted partner.

We are looking to recruit a Project Coordinator for a split position working half-time with the Maine CHW Initiative (MECHWI) and half-time with MCD’s CHW Training Program (CHWTP). The position is responsible for supporting MECHWI strategic plan, community outreach and CHWTP training activities. The Outreach & Training Coordinator will provide a wide range of outreach activities in collaboration with MECHWI, linking potential CHWs, CHW employers and stakeholders with sample policies, procedures, technical assistance and training opportunities.

Job Duties:

  • Recruit relevant new partners and members into the Maine CHW initiative to grow public knowledge and health investment into this profession.
  • Responsible for coordinating communication/marketing/ outreach materials and integrating the findings from data into MECHWI operations
  • Implement information sessions for new members.
  • Work with CHW Training partners to identify CHW skills training that is more responsive to the needs of CHWs and employers in Maine and coordinate training needs with MCD.
  • Work in collaboration with MECHWI Capacity Building Project Coordinator. As needed, serve as a liaison for the Maine CHW Initiative
  • Foster relationships, outreach and training opportunities with priority communities including but not limited to: New Mainers, Communities of Color and rural underserved
  • Support CHW workforce development and training needs. Design educational curriculums, develop evidence-based in-person and online trainings, and provide relevant training technical assistance. This includes gathering and reviewing existing curricula in specific content areas. This may also involve conducting literature reviews and providing written synopses.
  • Co-host information-sharing sessions for CHWs, CHW employers and stakeholders.
  • Support coordination of special training and technical assistance such as Project ECHO design
  • Attend pertinent regional and national CHW meetings.
  • Promote and advocate for the professional and build the CHW identity.
  • Advise employers on how to leverage and amplify the strengths of CHWs.
  • Design and implement an outreach plan to engage career centers healthcare organizations and community-based organizations
  • Develop resources, tools and templates for CHWs and employers.

Business Development

  • Assist in proposal technical support, grant writing, and review as needed.
  • Work with the MCD U.S. Program Co-Directors, business development team, state health departments, community-based organizations and CHW stakeholders to explore CHW funding opportunities and expansion of Maine CHW work.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent of education and experience. (A combination of four (4) years of education, training, and/or experience in health, public health, or a related field.) Master’s level training in a related field is a plus.

  • Knowledge related to public health topics, including topics such as Social Determinates of Health
  • Lived experience as Community Health Worker or CHW trainer
  • Fluent in English and other languages a plus
  • Proficiency in Zoom and other distance technology applications that support online training
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated cultural competence is essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)

Position Type: Full Time

Location: Hybrid remote with one day in Portland and occasional statewide travel.
