Job Description

Starboard Medical Inc. is looking for an entry level Engineering Intern to join our team in Irvine, CA. Starboard Medical is a manufacturer of medical devices including disposable temperature probes and thermistor temperature sensors. We are looking to hire a bright “go-getter” individual who is interested in learning about medical device quality, development and manufacturing.

This role wears many hats, as such, the applicant chosen for this position will gain experience in various aspects of a small business involved in medical devices.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program, preferably in biomedical engineering, biological sciences, or related field
  • Ability to learn quickly and “self-learn” certain aspects of the job
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn and comply with medical device GMP standards
  • Strong organizational and instruction following skills, must be structured to follow approved operating procedures and internal processes including document control

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Conducts quality testing of materials as outlined in protocols and test methods
  • Writes, reviews and conducts various tests, data gathering and analysis, protocols, and reports
  • Conducts validation studies on equipment, materials and processes
  • Maintains equipment list, including maintenance and calibration schedule
  • Assists team in product design and prototyping
  • Assist in warehouse logistics of raw materials and finished goods inventory
  • Follows all approved procedures, GMP, and document control requirements and assures required items are kept up to date

We are looking for a team player with a strong work ethic who can adapt to dynamics of a growing and changing business. Must have a helpful and “pitch-in” type attitude. Training will be provided. If you are interested in getting into a career in medical device quality, engineering, and/or manufacturing this is a great starting point.

Rate: $17 per hour

Job Type: Part-time, in-office

Schedule: Flexible (we can work around your classes), but must be within normal 9-5 hours. Approximately 10 hours per week. Starts immediately.
