Now we have an exciting new opportunity for someone to join our Parks & Recreation team as our new Recreation Program Coordinator. This position organizes and manages a variety of youth recreation activities, and services for the City of Redmond, with an emphasis on active recreation such as Day Camps, Art, Music, and Dance and our various community center spaces and parks.

This position will focus on recreation program development, building community partnerships, interacting with the public, and supervising staff, volunteers, and working with contracted service providers.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, requires evening and weekend shifts to meet program demand and for program/staff supervision. You will also work at community centers, schools with some off-site travel.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Planning and Development – Plan and implement high-quality and innovative recreation programming, with an emphasis on activities for youth and teens such as day camps, art, music, and dance.
  • Day Camps – Oversight of all aspects of the departments comprehensive Day Camp programming. Duties to include, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, scheduling, marketing, training, and oversight of high-quality camp programs at various sites throughout the City.
  • Site Management – Responsible for facility scheduling and ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for visitors and program participants.
  • Interacting with the Public – Provide a high level of customer service while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment at facilities and programs.
  • Supervision of Staff, Volunteers, and Contracted Service Providers – Directly supervise part-time seasonal and year-round staff, including but not limited to class instructors, facility staff, volunteers, and contracted service providers.
  • Marketing and Promotion – Utilize existing communication platforms (social media, website, print, eNews) to promote services, activities and opportunities that serve the community.
  • Partnerships and Sponsorships – Connect with community members and organizations seeking partnerships and sponsorships that enhance on partnership or sponsorship opportunities to enhance city services and align activities with the City’s Cost of Service Methodology.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Three years’ experience in program coordination and development,
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree or coursework preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Licenses and Certificates
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certifications (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
