Compensation for this role is: $56,800 to $85,200 with a quarterly bonus target.

Position Summary:

Bio-Techne is seeking an experienced Research Associate to join our Professional Assay Services (PAS) team. In this position, you will perform RNAscope assay services for industrial, pharmaceutical, and academic clients to detect RNA targets of interest. An additional critical work component will be the application of immunohistochemistry (IHC) to look for specific protein targets. The position will have an opportunity to work closely with scientists and investigators from a broad client base. You will collect and interpret data, which has implications for many downstream applications, such as biomarker validation and cell and gene therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute manual and automated RNAscope assays to evaluate RNA expression in client-provided cell/tissue samples.
  • Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) on client-provided cell/tissue samples to detect protein targets of interest.
  • Follow protocols for co-detection of both RNA and proteins.
  • Perform digital slide scanning, imaging, and fluorescent microscopy to acquire images.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Generate and create custom reports to deliver to clients.
  • Provide clients with updates as to the status of their projects.
  • Deliver projects to clients within stipulated turn-around times.
  • Maintain sample inventory and other logs for slide tracking.
  • Ensure adequate stocks of required reagents and consumables to run assays.
  • Present during group meetings.
  • Participate in teleconference meetings with industry, pharmaceutical, and academic clients.
  • Perform additional laboratory duties as assigned.

Occasional Duties and Responsibilities

Infrequent travel to client sites may be needed (<10%)

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in Molecular Biology or related field and 2 years of experience using immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) assays are required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in slide-based assays such as immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH)
  • Must have knowledge on slide imaging/microscopy techniques.
  • Experience using automated slide stainers is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a CRO setting is preferred.
  • Experience in basic molecular biology techniques is a plus.
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to be organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
