Southern Winds Hospital specializes in the treatment of mental health disorders. We are licensed to aid in multiple types of disorders. We emphasize the therapeutic process and focus on getting to know the patient and his/her strengths and individual skills.

OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the CEO and the Upper-level management, The Risk manager has the broad responsibility for protecting hospital assets. Is responsible for advising management on all potential sources of loss and making decisions on how to minimize best or eliminate loss. As well as responsible for planning, developing and maintaining an internal Risk Management Program of loss prevention and claims control to meet the hospital's needs, utilizing knowledge of industrial safety-related engineering discipline and operating regulations.

1. Responsible for the development and administration of the Hospital Risk Management Program.

2. Works with the Hospital administration and Chief Financial Officer to determine proper Insurance coverage for the Hospital.

3. Implements a Risk Identification System for acquisition, organization of information, data analysis, and documentation.

4. Develops and recommends new procedures and approaches to safety and loss prevention based on reports of incidents, accidents and other data gathered from hospital personnel.

5. Keep informed the staff about any potential risk, and prepare a plan in the event of any identify risk.

6. Responsible for claim administration, including the following:

i. Reports to insurance carriers,

ii. Coordination of communication with claimants, attorneys, insurance companies, and others.

iii. Immediate intervention and documented investigation of all claims.

7. Analyzes patient grievances that relate to patient care and the quality of medical care and services.

8. Develops and implements an incident reporting system to collect all reports of incidents on adverse events.

9. Implements methods of correcting, reducing and eliminating identifiable risks.

10. Investigation of alleged sexual misconduct against staff members.

11. Submits annual report of incidents to AHCA as required by State statutes.

12. Submits serious incidents to AHCA as required by State statutes.

13. Provides written reports to the Governing Board at least quarterly, summarizing all incidents that affect the quality of patient care, the safety of personnel, visitors, or the financial assets of the facility.

14. Coordinates insurance accounting data with the Business Department as appropriate.

15. Coordinates Risk Management training program on new hires and annual employees.

16. Ensures compliance with guidelines and standards of the Joint Commission standards, Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies as indicated.

17. Researches legal solutions to the professional liability and hospital liability questions posed by hospital physicians, nurses, and other personnel.

18. Represents the hospital on the advice of legal counsel and, as requested by the Chief Administrative Officer, to respond to subpoenas and appear for hearings and trials.

19. Assists administrative, medical, and departmental personnel in developing policies and procedures that reflect the risk management techniques.

20. Develops and reviews safety training for hospital staff.

21. Maintains administrative control of records related to safety and health programs.

22. Prepares and disseminates memos and reports.

23. Maintains required records.

24. Performs other assigned duties as required.

Requirements:

- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or Health Care related field with a minimum of one year experience in Risk Management.

- Hospital Settings experience preferred.

- Fast-peace environment.

- Expert in Microsoft office.

- Excellent presentation skills.

- Must be fully bilingual English-Spanish.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
