Job Description

Progressive Components has a great opportunity for a Senior Buyer in our Wauconda office. This position will be responsible for the purchase of finished and semi-finished components for assembly and distribution. The primary focus is determining sufficient inventory levels, cutting spot buy, release, and blanket purchase orders to suppliers, and expediting to provide exceptional customer satisfaction. Working with both domestic and international suppliers and developing relationships, while ensuring supply chain performance and cost optimization. This is a hybrid role that will be required to be onsite a few days a week.


Senior Buyer

Responsibilities:

  • Manage inventory tools and analyze data about items from new product launch to recommended obsolescence. Manage and maintain current inventory. Identify and resolve discrepancies in inventory. Track shipments to ensure they are complete, correct, and on time and in the correct warehouse location. Procure materials with ideal pricing and lead times.
  • Manage the domestic and international supply base by ensuring timely and accurate shipments to support high customer satisfaction, expediting as necessary. Work with logistics partners on transportation visibility as well as communicating with warehouse team regarding product arrivals.
  • Continually improve upon inventory levels, quality standards, process/procedure, and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize reporting tools to analyze demand for supply base and adjust purchase requirements accordingly.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain ERP / purchasing business systems.
  • Create assembly requirements for internal finished goods while collaborating with warehouse to create the daily, weekly, and annual labor schedules.
  • Lead or participate in special projects with responsibility in reporting status to different levels of the organization.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Logistics preferred or an ability to demonstrate necessary work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience required in a buyer role for a manufacturing or distribution organization.
  • Experience demonstrating knowledge of a complete supply chain cycle.
  • Certification APICS or CPIM preferred.
  • Experience with MRP processing within an ERP system and Microsoft CRM experience preferred.
  • MS Office Skills required including intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
