CPS FC Elig Spec II
Determines eligibility using application forms, required documents, collateral contacts, and data entry on appropriate automated system. The position interprets policies for staff, assumes additional tasks including training, special projects and reports, updated eligibility status in the states automated software program (IMPACT) and accesses TIERS system for information verification. The position interacts routinely with Child Protective Services (CPS) staff, program directors, state office program specialists, stakeholders and other agency staff throughout the United States.
This position will be trained for both Foster Care and Adoption Assistance Eligibility.
Essential Job Functions:
Initiates and tracks applications and renewals.
Handles all inquiries for foster home and adoption.
Performs eligibility determinations for children and updating case information including address changes and direct deposit.
Tuition Waiver Letters
Attorney Payments
Serves as member of the regional adoption subsidy committee.
Obtains information from adoptive parents and notifies them of adoption subsidy committee decision.
Extensively works in IMPACT and interacts regularly with State Office fiscal division for payment inquiry and resolution.
Initiating recoupment efforts when overpayments are made
Preparing Hearing Packets
Terminating agreements as appropriate
Verifying subsequent adoptions
Authorizing supplemental payments
Processing reimbursement of nonrecurring adoption expenses
Reviews and processes Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) documents for Medicaid eligibility on children in custody of another state who are placed for adoption in Texas.
Reviews and processes all non-recurring adoption expense applications for payments.
Verifies children for post adoption services.
Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations, including maintaining files and all other duties assigned.
Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts.
Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.

Initial Selection Criteria:
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Two years full-time social service, human services work, eligibility determination, or
DFPS experience.
Acceptable Substitutions:
Sixty semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for
required experience.
Prior experience with IMPACT.
