Job Title: Operations - Material Handler II

FLSA: Non-Exempt

STATUS: Full-Time

Location: Skokie, IL

Supervisor: Operations Manager

SUMMARY:

The Material Handler II duties include, but are not limited to, receiving, cycle counting, picking, packing, and/or checking.


Education:
HS diploma or equivalent.

Related Experience: A minimum of 2 years of full-time related experience working in a manufacturing environment. Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, will be accepted.

Must be able to read, write and speak English.


HOURS:

Monday through Friday, full-time with work hours designated by the Supervisor. Team Members are required to work overtime when requested.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

  • This role demands attention to detail, and the team member must have the ability to notice small differences in item numbers
  • OSHA Class I forklift certification is a plus
  • Ability to operate manual pallet jack
  • Ability to utilize a handheld scanner
  • Hand stack merchandise into a trailer using conveyor system and following proper stacking techniques to minimize damage to product.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relationships with both internal and external guests.
  • Capacity to utilize effective time management skills and be able to work under the stress of multiple deadlines, requests from other departments, and interruptions with accuracy.
  • Ability to follow directions and communicate in English verbally and in writing and to read and understand materials printed in English.

Flex between areas as needed and instructed by the department supervisor


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cycle Counting:

  • Complete assigned cycle counts, physical inventories, random or receipt audits and reconciliations.
  • Research and reconcile inventory discrepancies

Picking:

  • Organize and ensure workflow for out high efficiency packing lines (Entra)
  • Operate automatic taping machine.
  • Follow Single Flow process

Shipping:

  • Prepare Small Parcel Trailer for loading
  • Introduce and remove Power Conveyor at end of shift
  • Hand load trailer in the most efficient and organized manner

All Employees:

  • Adhere to all safety, housekeeping guidelines as well as all work rules and policies
  • Must demonstrate commitment, dependability, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule as determined by manager.
  • Support and exhibit the VCC values.

Participate in twice daily ergo exercises.


Marginal Functions:

  • Use of computer to print labels and investigate discrepancies in JDE
  • Conduct basic inspection, labelling and wrapping of VCG products in conjunction with the quality assurance department

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • General work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment with varied temperature and fluorescent lighting.
  • Workspace is occasionally shared with forklifts.
  • Exposure to noise distractions from employees or equipment operation in work areas.
  • Infrequent exposure to cleaning materials. (E.g., Windex).
  • Parking is provided approximately one block away from building.
