The Microsoft Capacity Supply Chain and Provisioning (CSCP) group is an exciting and fast evolving engineering group within Microsoft. CSCP’s mission is to optimize and deliver industry leading cloud infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services used by our customers around the world. The organization is responsible for strategy and delivery of the foundational platform for all Microsoft Online Services including demand and capacity forecasting, supply chain, data centers, networking, bandwidth, operations, and incident management. CSCP supports over 200 online businesses including Bing, Office365, OneDrive, Xbox, and Windows Azure branded services. We are looking for a Senior Network Supply Planner to join the Network Supply Chain Team. This position will be responsible for managing long lead materials, such as switching gears, network cables and other hardware, to build out our data center network. Microsoft Supply Planners meet with suppliers regularly to understand their capabilities and compare forecasts with supply commitments to support our international requirements. This includes setting up an inventory policy (safety stock, reorder point) supporting product transitions and innovating new processes and tools to reduce cycle time and ensure supply.

Responsibilities

This role and the team are part of a critical function that will be the single point of contact for server and network sourcing and capacity planning teams. Your responsibilities will include the following:
  • Meeting regularly with assigned suppliers to review forecast, capture supply commitments, and publish internally.
  • Reviewing all Purchase Order's (PO’s) placed by Microsoft System Integrators or data centers and assure compliance and supportability against our 3PL inventory positioning.
  • Managing metrics including days of supply, Excess & Obsolete (E&O), shortages within lead time and inventory exposure at each supplier to improve performance.
  • Working with Supply Chain, and Capacity Planning teams on the timing and availability of product transitions to plan for platform end of life (minimizing E&O inventory) and ramp of new platforms
  • Defining inventory buffer targets (in conjunction with Component Planning) and strategies based on historical usage and forecast and define financial risk/liability associated with said buffers
  • Performing scenario analysis to understand impact of component shortages and demand changes to our overall supply plan.
  • Identifying process improvement opportunities and work with cross functional teams to improve tools and process to better meet our global demands.

Qualifications

Required Qualification:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 3+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in Electronics manufacturing supply planning or related experience
  • 3+ years of Inventory management or related experience
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes (Printed Circuit Board Assembly and logistics)
  • Direct experience in electronics assembly and network industry.
  • Deep understanding of Supply Planning elements, tools, and process.
  • Proven track record in delivering change, process improvement, and lean manufacturing solutions
  • Experience with Material Role Planning/Enterprise Resource Planning systems, including material planning specific software such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Expert level with MS Office Applications, focus on Excel
  • Results orientated with strong analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Critical thinking and ability to drive resolution in ambiguous situations
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Supply Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
