Senior Actuarial Analyst for MRSI Digital Underwriting

The Opportunity
Future focused and always one step ahead
Major responsibilities include:
- Prepare pricing analyses and develop rates for property and casualty lines of business
- Build pricing models utilizing various statistical and modeling tools such as Python and company internal software
- Develop and maintain pricing tools for portfolio steering; participate in the development of strategies to drive profitable growth
- Support result monitoring and portfolio management projects that will assist underwriters and management in steering business
- Complete required data preparation and transformation for modeling; identify and communicate any data quality issues
- Support the launch of new products and expand the capabilities of existing products
- Work on special projects appropriate for the functional area such as predictive analytics, portfolio analyses, industry benchmark studies etc.
- Prepare presentations and communicate results to clients and management
- Work in close collaboration with subject matter experts from Data Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering and Product Management
- Document and communicate assumptions and findings to actuarial staff and relevant stakeholders
- Pursue formal education via Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams
The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including NYC. The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s NYC location.
The base salary range anticipated for this position is $89,600 - 131,300, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
Your profile
Qualifications:
- Four or more years in insurance pricing, preferably supporting personal or commercial property products
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics or related field requiring modeling, programming or quantitative analysis
- Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams (from the Casualty Actuarial Society or Society of Actuaries)
- Excellent technical and computer skills including model building and data capture (prior experience in Python and SQL is a plus)
- Strong analytical abilities including understanding of advanced mathematics and statistical concepts
- Knowledge of insurance company processes and functions, including a good understanding of the actuarial concepts and techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and negotiate with others at all levels and create acceptance for proposals
- Solid oral and written communication skills
