Overview:
Telemetry Monitor Technician
The Monitor Technician is responsible for the accurate identification of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias for all patients on the telemetry monitoring service. This team member must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with coworkers, staff, and physicians. A fundamental knowledge a thorough understanding of the monitoring process and effective, efficient use of the telemetry equipment is required. The Telemetry Monitor Technician works under the supervision of the Patient Care Director.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
- Coursework in Cardiac Rhythm and Analysis preferred
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates appropriate lead placement to maximize telemetry reception.
- Promptly notifies nursing staff of any changes in patient rhythm or any observed change in patient status while working with patient.
- Correctly documents every 2 hours, rhythm identification and any rhythm changes PRN and observations/actions (presence of cardiac drips, pacemakers, etc.) on telemetry flowsheet.
- Provides clear/concise telemetry update on each patient to relief monitor tech before leaving the monitoring station.
- Maintains the telemetry monitoring equipment (boxes, cables, leads) and supplies in a neat, ordered manner. Changes batteries and electrodes and keeps accurate, updated records.
- Is alert to potential quality improvement issues and assists in resolving problem areas.
