JOB SUMMARY:

The Applications Engineer performs engineering work relative to customer product applications, and for the improvement of existing products. The Applications Engineer works as a bridge between customers, Operations teams, engineering teams, using customer input and sales information to design, or redesign, develop, test and implement customer programs and applications. The individual in this role provides specialized technical service to salesman and customers for the solution of design and application problems.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides advice and technical information to customers and salesman in matters pertaining to applications and assists customers as required for satisfactory product performance.
  • Makes customer visits as necessary while maintaining a customer centric mindset and outlook.
  • Articulates technology, product and application positioning to both business and technical users.
  • Prepares requests for quotations for customers.
  • Performs technical/product training for Inside Sales, Operations, Engineering and end users for targeted accounts; assists in the onsite technical training of sales team members.
  • Keeps abreast of new product developments and applications for use in adaptation to company products.
  • Responsible for carrying out assignments of substantial complexity.
  • Analyze field samples and report back to initiator of request.
  • May generate requests to Chemical/Functional Test Lab for analysis of sample materials for the field.
  • Carries out special projects in business development, safety and continuous improvement as required.
  • Represents the Company by membership in technical and professional societies.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves on a committee based safety team.
  • Performs any other assigned duty as directed by Sales Engineer or program leader.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment in Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required at accredited college or university; related or similar disciplines could be considered.
  • Demonstrates great inter personal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement.
