From the exceptional service at the check-in counter to the departure gate, and even behind the scenes making sure your checked bags arrive with you, our Airport Operations team keeps operations at our airports running smoothly every single day.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility is to provide leadership oversight at the station for all aspects of operational performance and service delivery in the Terminal environment that includes operational activities for Below the Wing and Ramp Service employees. Responsible for accomplishing budgeted financial objectives and maintaining an effective and involved workforce comprised of unionized, management & administrative employees. Collaborates with Union leadership to ensure fair and accurate administration of collective bargaining agreements, and ongoing positive Union-Management relations. Position interfaces frequently with other departments including Station Operations Center, Customer Service, Flight Operations, In-flight, Maintenance, in addition to government agencies, airport authorities, business partners and vendors.

  • Baggage Cold Sort, TOB, and Make-up Areas
  • STAR Alliance
  • United Express Operations
  • Station Baggage Control Center
  • Baggage Related IT Initiatives
  • Cargo Facilities
  • Charter Operations
  • Vendor Contracts and SLA’s
  • Departmental Safety
  • Department Administration and Financial Controls
  • Department Training
  • Active involvement in local airport community (TSA, Airport Authority, other airlines)
  • International Arrival facilities (IAB & FIS)
  • Operational planning and safe execution of all Terminal operations and safety
  • Operational performance, financial controls, and accountability
  • Employee/Business relationship development
  • Collaborating with department managers and peers
  • Working with Union Leaders
  • Leadership and frontline employee development
  • Working with Business partners: Government Agencies (TSA, FAA), Airport Authorities, Vendor relationships and management of SLA’s
  • Strategic plan of long-term development of department operations and training

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2-4 years of leadership experience in an airport operations environment
  • Demonstrated success in the management of a multi-department, multidimensional business including operations, logistics, business systems, performance metrics, and budgets
  • Shown success in decision-making and driving goals
  • Confirmed ability in problem identification, analysis and action planning and knowledge of continuous improvement methods
  • Confirmed familiarity with operational & corporate processes & procedures
  • Experience leading Safety-related programs and regulatory requirements
  • Previous experience working with a unionized workforce
  • In-depth knowledge of operations, logistics, technology, and financial budgeting
  • Excellent oral, written, and social skills
  • Passion for excelling in a service environment
  • Promotes a safe working environment
  • Responsible for a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation
  • Position requires weekend work and travel
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years managerial experience working in an airport HUB (above and below the wing)
  • Confirmed understanding of Hub operations, which includes customer service, ramp operations and eye for business
  • Project Management expertise
