We currently have an opening for an Engineering Intern based out of our location in Port Townsend, Washington.


About Port Townsend Paper Company (PTPC)

The Port Townsend Paper (“PTPC”) mill is proud to have been in continuous operation for more than 90 years. We use a blend of virgin and recycled fibers (Kraft and OCC pulp) to produce Kraft pulp, paper, containerboard, medium, and market pulp. Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in key engineering projects.
  • Assist in anticipated facility renovations.
  • Learn the responsibilities of an engineer.
  • Fulfill administrative duties around the office.
  • Run errands for the engineering staff.
  • Incorporate academic knowledge into hands-on work.
  • Present findings and lessons learned to top management at the end of the internship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education

  • Completion of at least two years of study in a university engineering program.
  • GPA of 3.5/4.0 preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous internship experience.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

Employment Terms

  • Full-time, Internship position for the duration of the summer. Internship start and finish dates are dependent on the academic schedule.
  • Salary range: $25/hr. plus overtime for interns
  • In compliance with the Immigration and Naturalization Act, proof of authorization to work in the United States will be required at the time of hire.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history and drug testing will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
