Position Summary:
The Industrial Engineer will lead manufacturing process stability, efficiency, and training responsibilities. Will be responsible to develop strong guidelines for Production and Maintenance personnel, constructs Process Flow Maps with supporting manufacturing documentation and assists Finance with establishing labor routing standards. Continuous Improvement discipline and Lean Manufacturing principles will represent the working model and communication language this individual will use as primary tools to drive collaboration and implement sound manufacturing processes. Success will be shown by demonstrating and documenting Best Known Practices that deliver maximum Quality combined with optimized manufacturing processes. This focus will demand a hands-on approach that will require 50 to 60% of their time working and experimenting on the production floor. This role is that of a Lean Manufacturing Practitioner.

Reports to: Sr. Engineering Manager

Functional Responsibilities:
  • Lead implementation of safe equipment operating models:
  • Maximize manufacturing process quality and output.
  • Process Flow Diagrams and Visual Management
  • Value Stream Mapping – Gap analysis
  • Applied Statistics and studies such as, Cpk., Gage R&R studies.
  • Equipment & Process Work Instructions, troubleshooting guides, and all respective manufacturing documents.
  • Conduct training on how to run and support equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Equipment validation support such as conducting time studies and detailed cost analysis (Bill of Materials (BOM) and routings)
  • Line balance & optimization diagrams.
  • Sustain current Carma Labs Value Stream Map.
  • Establish proper documentation of Equipment Maintenance discipline:
  • Prioritize department opportunities.
  • Implement methods and line balance improvements.
  • Lead cross functional improvement initiatives.
  • Drive implementation of cost savings ideas.
  • Train Production and Maintenance by providing technical support.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives with respective area teams:
  • Find and define Process Flow gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct Time studies, create manufacturing cell layout improvements and Standard Work.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned by manager.

Required Experience, Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated manufacturing equipment and process commissioning.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PPT.
  • Project management experience – team facilitator.
  • Lean manufacturing experience (Visual management, 5S, PDCA)
  • Continuous Improvement experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Continuous Improvement project experience as a leader and facilitator.
  • Experience in OTC or FDA controlled environment.

Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Process Engineering degree and five (5) or more years of applicable experience.
