PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The hiring range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00 hourly.
This is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee), where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.
The City of Aurora is seeking a variable hour non-benefit eligible (part time 0-29 hours per week), highly motivated and talented individual to perform a variety of tasks including supervising lifeguard staff, coordinating the emergency response, and daily facility operations at the municipal swimming pool facilities for the Recreation Division of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees the total operation of the pool.

Supervises outdoor summer pool

Communicates when chemicals need to be ordered and checks pool chemistry maintenance.

Assists with the proper training of lifeguards and cashiers.

Works with full time management staff on audits.

Makes sure pool facility meets standards and regulations.

Handles all 2nd level appeals of the public on discrepancies at the pool.

Conducts in-service training sessions.

Monitors daily pool chemistry.

Coordinates and progresses the Emergency Action Plan.

Oversees proper handling of money.

Helps maintain the pool chemicals.

Assists in creating, updating, and tracking staff schedule.

Responsible for keeping time keeping system up to date, ensures staff puts in time

Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens.

Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.

Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
-
Light to moderate physical work.
-
May require ability to lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds.

May require lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Regular standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing, and swimming.

Hand/eye coordination for operation of a computer system.
-
Vision to read reports and other written material.

Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Equipment and machinery associated with the operation of a swimming pool including pumps, filters, valves, heaters, chemical feed, and monitoring equipment, and associated maintenance equipment
