About the OrganizationGood Samaritan Clinic is a 501c3 non-profit in Morganton, NC providing quality primary health care to those in our community who are uninsured, underinsured, and underserved. As a free and charitable clinic, we are committed to improving health outcomes for our patients regardless of their ability to pay. Our clinic works collaboratively with like-minded organizations and agencies to provide the following programs and services: Primary care including preventative, acute, and chronic care. Specialty care on-site and through UNC Health Blue Ridge. On-site pharmacy. Resources for social determinants of health through Burke Health Network. NC MedAssist/ Medication Assistance Programs. NC Farmworker Health Program. The Medical Assistant works closely with the medical providers to streamline the whole-person care visit. Listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all types of people are essential in this role. Some responsibilities of the Medical Assistant includes obtaining a full medical history on patients, scheduling follow-up appointments based on provider recommendations, entering data in the electronic medical record system, and assisting other clinical staff to ensure patients receive the best possible care. QualificationsEducation: High School Grad or equivalent; Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred, but not required.Experience: Preferred two years of a similar medical environment, but we are willing to train; familiarity with computers and standard medical office equipment required.Other: Bi-lingual Spanish HIGHLY PREFERRED. More than half of our patients are best served in a language other than English. This position requires intuitive thinking and mission-minded service; attention to detail, and critical thinking skills are expected in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities
Interview patients and document basic medical history.
Room patients and take vital signs at the time of their appointment with their primary care provider.
Update relevant information and medication list.
Manage patient cases with appropriate staff and medical providers.
Organize and schedule follow-up appointments.
Assist during medical examinations.
Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical equipment.
Assist other clinical staff during high-traffic times when primary duties allow.
