Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital, a part of Fairview Health Services, is currently seeking a dedicated Patient Access Service Representative to join our team!

POSITION: Patient Access Services Representative - Clinic

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: 1.0 FTE (80 hours/pay period)

WORK SCHEDULE: Days

DEPARTMENT: Patient Access

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for completing the registration process within Patient Access. This employee is responsible for verifying insurance, assuring that registrations are completed with accurate data. They are responsible for initiating referrals and financially securing accounts.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Responsible for arriving all patients for scheduled appointments. This includes obtaining the necessary consents, signature and documents from the patient. Verify that the patient and insurance verification has been done.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the scheduling of patient appointments by following the principals of scheduling with the required information populated.
  • Collect any co-pays at the time of service.
  • Identify any potential coverage issues or self-pay issues. Engage the financial advocates if appropriate.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately enter patient information and scan required documents in the computerized scheduling system.
  • Daily completion of patient and claim edit work queues to improve the revenue cycle.
  • Collaborates with the business office, financial advocates and the Designated Authorization Group (DAG) to support the revenue cycle.
  • Prioritizes the customer experience and acts with the customer in mind in all situations, dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; established and maintains trusting and respectful relationships with patients, coworkers and external customers.
  • Monitor the order and cleanliness of the lobby and waiting areas. Notify housekeeping if any tasks need to be completed to maintain customer safety in these areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Associates degree in business related field preferred
  • One year of customer service or scheduling experience
  • Ability to collect co-payments and present fiscal information in a professional confidential manner
  • Ability to use appropriate computer applications
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to discuss financial obligations with patients in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Adhere to all Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies.
  • Maintains consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Ability and willingness to cover all patient access areas as needed, including weekend coverage.
  • Preferred candidate has one year admitting experience and/or health insurance experience.
  • Perform other related duties as required. This list is not all-inclusive, and any other task or job may be assigned in the future.
