Position Summary:

The postgraduate year one (PGY-1) pharmacy residency will build on the pharmacy education to contribute to the development of a competent, confident, and patient-centered clinical pharmacist. Experiences include, but are not limited to, providing direct patient care, participation in pharmacy operations and administration, and contributing to quality and safety improvement through participation in various committees. The resident will also be eligible for board certification, and for a postgraduate year two (PGY-2) pharmacy residency training after the completion of the residency year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The applicant must be a graduate from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. The applicant must be a citizen of the U.S.A.
  • The applicant must be licensed as a registered Pharmacist by the state of Connecticut within the first 6 weeks of residency. Failure to pass the required board examinations will result in an individual review by the Residency Advisory Committee to develop a remediation plan and/or result in dismissal from the program.
  • The applicant will be selected through the resident matching program (RMP) process, and utilize the PhORCAS system for the application process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The applicant should demonstrate knowledge of pharmacy and therapeutics.
  • The applicant should possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work with others.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy is desirable however, not required.
