CUMULUS MEDIA | Wilmington location is offering a great opportunity in the programming side of the radio broadcasting industry as a Part-time Traffic Reporter/Producer. Our ideal candidate should possess an extremely good work ethic, be a self-starter, and highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced office environment. You will be responsible for preparing and reporting on traffic and transit conditions in the Wilmington, NC and Cape Fear Region.

Responsibilities/Requirements

• Provide timely and useful information to area commuters by helping them plan their drives to and from work, school, etc., as well as to those already en route by maintaining contact with a variety of external sources of information.
• Announces the latest accidents and traffic delays and provides updates in a timely fashion.
• Reads traffic reports to our listeners on the radio and online from a variety of resources; canvasses local, state and regional traffic news to determine significance and prioritization.
• Identifies, researches, and creates written copy regarding traffic news to feature during set morning and afternoon air shifts; produces final content using digital audio recording/editing software and uploads content to our on air delivery system.
• Manages gathered traffic information: keeps all facts straight, always confirms details are accurate and current and tracks any changes.
• Gathers and provides coverage for stations. Meets all crucial deadlines in order to provide traffic updates in a timely fashion.
• On rare occasions and in the event of significant traffic incidents, may be required to report live on location using station vehicles.
• May prepare written content, visual images, audio material and video footage for websites, blogs or other social-media platforms.
• May require flexibility in work schedules from time to time, including holidays
• In-studio work preferred, but will consider remote work.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including MS Word, social networking platforms and audio production software, knowledgeable and experienced with our local coverage area geography and roadways, mass transit and traffic patterns.
• Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar and proper pronunciation of area street names and landmarks, excellent focus and strong attention to details, ability to follow up and report on traffic situations until issues are resolved, ability to plan, organize, set priorities and multi task in a very fast-paced environment.
• Pleasant, charismatic and well-controlled professional voice; excellent pronunciation. Experience and capable of working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, collaborative environment.
• 2+ years on-air radio experience preferred
• College degree preferred, preferably in Broadcast Journalism or Communications
