The Referral Center (RC) Senior Behavioral Intake Coordinator is responsible for initial triage and processing of incoming referrals for Strength Based and Assertive Community Treatment Case Management Programs. The referrals will be received, reviewed for clinical appropriateness, documented in internal database and coordinated with the referring party and receiving program through to completion.


Due to business needs, the hours for this position are 8 am to 5 pm PST and residency in San Diego is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in implementation and planning meetings around roll out of the referral center operations
  • Participate in case conferences and in-service opportunities as needed
  • As a newly implemented program, demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to the program as it develops and evolves
  • Review referrals for accuracy and completeness and enter accurate data entry of referral information into designated database
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external partners
  • Review referral in comparison to various different program criteria to determine the most appropriate match
  • Efficiently answer incoming calls and provide prompt and courteous service to others
  • Monitor workload and ensure work is completed within the established turnaround times. Manage up to supervisor any challenges with completing work timely or when clarification is needed. Collaborate with supervisor around training and individual development goals
  • Serve as a liaison with other departments and external stakeholders like County contractor, case management program staff, and others as needed. Collaborate with external partners around ongoing program development needs and opportunities
  • Support the implementation of data collection and tracking of information regarding referrals. Assist in development and providing reporting back to county partners on agreed upon reporting elements
  • Assist with problem resolution as needed. Work with team to solve complex problems
  • Plan, prioritize, organize, and complete work to meet established timelines and objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s level mental health professional
  • 2+ years of clinical experience in a mental health setting
  • Experience working in a county behavioral health system of care
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to access to San Diego County Behavioral Health Electronic Health Record, Cerner as well as other internal databases
  • Access to install secure, high-speed internet and a dedicated, distracted workspace at home
  • Reside in the Pacific Time Zone

California, Nevada or Washington Residents Only: The hourly range for California, Nevada or Washington residents is $18.80 to $36.78.
