Job Description

The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, (TSPMG)/ Kaiser Permanente is looking to bring on a Pool MD for Weight Management. This provider will be r esponsible for providing weight management services including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients, as needed. They will work closely with obesity medicine specialist(s) to assist with KPGA member weight management needs.

  • Assess patient status by obtaining health history through patient interviews and chart reviews; assessing presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychological situation, and cultural factors; and performing appropriate physical examinations.
  • Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnosis and other screening tests. Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, for evaluation of illness. Integrate data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risk.
  • Develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing medications and/or injections in compliance with weight management protocols, medical practice guidelines and state laws. Instructs patient regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention. Obtains, complies and records patient’s medical data, including health history and progress notes in Health Connect.
  • Maintains superior member service interaction. Assesses, develops and coordinates a clinical treatment program for Health Plan members with acute or chronic psychiatric disorders.
  • Consults with staff regarding diagnosis, strengths and deficits of member, as needed or appropriate.
  • Instructs and counsels members regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Makes referrals to case manager, as appropriate, and/or refers member’s family to community support services and resources. Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of members.
  • Reports safety concerns in accordance with state mandated policies.

Minimum Education and/or Qualifications:

· Medical Degree

· Board Certification

· Experience and additional training focused on obesity/weight management

· Obesity Medicine Certification preferred

· Current Unrestricted Licensure in the State of Georgia
